BIOWISE is an Erasmus+ project, coordinated by the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, aiming to support the transition to bio-based materials in the wood, textile, and furniture sectors.
The project equips learners with cutting-edge applied biotechnology skills, integrating bioeconomy and circular economy principles into higher education to reduce reliance on fossil resources, support climate adaptation, and foster a new generation of transdisciplinary researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs.
Objectives
BIOWISE brings together academia and industry to:
- analyse biotechnology trends
- identify key skills and knowledge needs
- co-develop a shared skills framework
Main outcomes of the project include:
- training programme with modular learning paths, digital resources, and teaching materials;
- digital learning hub to support flexible and accessible learning;
- hands-on laboratory activities and a practical lab manual for applied biotechnology.

Through collaboration, pilot activities, and on-site meetings, BIOWISE aims to prepare a new generation of researchers, innovators, and professionals for a more sustainable, bio-based future.
